Volunteers actively participate in the work of the group, provide thoughtful input to deliberations, focus on the best interests of HCMC and its membership, and work toward accomplishing the committee’s goals. Appointments to committees are typically for a one or two-year term beginning January 1 of a given year.

HCMC Committees

HCMC is now accepting volunteer applications to participate in the following member committees:

Membership and Engagement Committee

The purpose of this committee is to develop and maintain an active member recruitment strategy and provide a welcoming experience for members of all levels. The committee will engage current and future members to understand their unique needs, based in part on the size of their organization and the services the capacity management department provides.

Education and Professional Development Committee

Continuous learning is necessary in the ever evolving field of capacity management. Our members look to us to provide not only engaging content for symposia but also through online content. This team also includes a subcommittee that is charged with developing curricula and certification programs for capacity management professionals.

Research Committee

This team will establish a national research agenda for the nascent field of hospital capacity management. Members will survey the current state of research in the field, identify gaps in foundational research and set a research agenda to advance the work in this field.

Benchmarking Committee

This team will explore and define key opportunities for setting industry-wide benchmarks in patient flow and capacity management, creating a foundation for future data sharing and performance improvement across hospitals.
